In March 2020, workers rapidly retreated from their workplaces armed with laptops, cables, and the tools they needed to carry on functioning in a quickly evolving global response to COVID-19.
Within the next few months employers and employees will be begin traversing back into workplace environments that may look familiar but are essentially, completely uncharted. As we begin to re-populate our buildings, there are several easy, yet highly effective ways employers can help to facilitate the physical, mental, and social well-being of their employees, while adhering to new health recommendations and social standards.
According to the World Green Building Council, community and building-based prevention and control measures have become one of the most important methods of fighting against COVID -19 and future epidemics. These measures include actions such as self-isolation, community management, elevator disinfection, environmental cleaning, open windows for natural ventilation and other actions that take into account the safety, health, and accessibility for occupants, of all ages.
